Lake Erie Birding Trail

Trail Information

This trail features stops surrounding the Lake Erie basin in variety of habitats. Visitors may have the opportunity to view a tremendous diversity of bird species, as nearly 400 species of birds have been reported in these areas.

Trail Website

The Lake Erie Bird Trail Website features:

• Driving directions, GPS coordinates, and address for each stop
• Species of interest at each stop by season
• Description of best parking and viewing areas

Trail Loops

The Lake Erie Birding Trail guides visitors to 84 sites along 7 loops through excellent birding locations in the Lake Erie area:

• 1: Ashtabula Loop
• 2: Cleveland Area Loop
• 3: Huron and Lorain Loop
• 4: Sandusky Loop
• 5: Lake Erie Islands Loop
• 6: Western Lake Erie Marshes Loop
• 7: Oak Openings Loop
